5 Easy Fixes that Won’t Scare You!

Not all of us were born with the handyman gene. But if you find the thought of doing any appliance repair intimidating – don’t!

Repair Clinic has five easy appliance fixes that pretty much anyone can do … Even you!

We break it down by the appliance problem and a simple repair that might fix it. Plus, all of the fixes listed cost $40 or less!

  1. Refrigerator Running Constantly
This is one of the easiest money-saving fixes out there. And when you’re done, you’ll have a happier refrigerator and even save money on your electric bill!
Just pull your fridge away from the wall and clean the condenser coils using either a long cleaning brush or a special attachment for your vacuum cleaner.
  2. Garbage Disposal Isn’t Working
You flip the disposal’s switch and nothing happens. The fix could be as simple as the touch of a button. Make sure the power switch is in the “off” position and press the red reset button on the bottom of the garbage disposer. If that doesn’t do the trick, get a garbage disposer wrench (quarter-inch Allen wrench) and put it into the bottom of the disposer and wiggle the grinding plate to loosen any jams. If you hear a grinding noise when you wiggle the plate, there’s something stuck in the disposer. Get a flashlight to look at the inside of the disposer to see what’s caught.
  3. Lawn Mower Won’t Start
Your lawn mower is charged and has oil and a tank full of gas – but it won’t start! It’s more than likely one of two issues … Either you need to replace the spark plug or clean the carburetor.
If the sparkplug’s porcelain insulator is cracked or you see heavy carbon buildup on the spark electrode, it’s time to replace it. Chances are if you’ve left gasoline in your mower without a fuel stabilizer for a while, the carburetor is clogged. You should be able to fix that with a little carburetor cleaner.
  4. Dryer Taking Too Long to Dry Clothes
If it’s taking more than one cycle to dry your clothes, then you might need to clean out your dryer venting. Even if you diligently clean out your lint filter, lint can still build up in the venting from the inside of your dryer to the outside. Good news, this is another easy, quick fix. You can either use a long cleaning brush like we mentioned in #1, or you can use a dryer cleaning brush that can reach up to 20 feet. To keep your dryer running at its best, clean out the venting system at least once a year.
  5. Washing Machine Rocks When in Use
This easy fix could be a free one as well. Oftentimes when your washing machine rocks or moves too much when it’s in use, it just needs to be leveled. Washers have leveling legs underneath that can be adjusted. Just be sure to use the locking nut to lock them in place when you’re done, or you’ll be doing this step again soon!

Whatever easy fix you need, be sure to refer to your owner’s manual first. If you’re manual is missing, we might have one available. And remember, Repair Clinic has millions of appliance parts available for same-day shipping and we offer a 365 return policy guarantee.
