Cause 1Check Fault Codes

When a refrigerator is beeping, a fault code will usually be displayed to help diagnose the issue. Refer to the owner's manual for fault code designations and possible solutions.

Cause 2Power outage reset

After a power outage the refrigerator display will typically beep and/or flash a code like PO for power outage or PF for power failure. In most cases you will need to press a button to reset the alarm. You can also try turning the breaker off for a few seconds then back on. Refer to the owner’s manual for specific information.

Cause 3Door Switch

A refrigerator door switch is used to turn on the interior lights when a door is opened and to ensure the door with a water and ice dispenser is closed before dispensing ice. If the switch is defective, it may signal to the control that a door is open even when it is fully closed resulting in a beeping alarm sound. You can use a multimeter to test the door switch for appropriate electrical continuity. If the switch does not test appropriately, it should be replaced.
